Enhancing
Surgical Quality
Our team of dedicated doctors and patients strive to elevate health care outcomes through meticulous research and insightful data analysis.
Before quality can be improved, it must be properly defined. Current quality measures do not focus on what matters to the patient or capture the impact of specific interventions, such as surgery.
Our projects seek to change that.
Developing True Quality Measures
We study the current state of quality measurement in health care and develop new methods to gather data that drive accurate and patient-centered measures of quality.
Evaluating and Reducing Harms from Utilization Management
Utilization management techniques such as prior authorization can cause patient harm by delaying or denying necessary care. This may also exacerbate health disparities, creating additional barriers for those who already face many to accessing care. We are researching more effective and less burdensome alternatives.
Educating and Empowering Health Care Providers
Current quality measurement and value-based care programs are confusing and counterintuitive. We educate health care providers on quality and quality measurement, and techniques to empower providers to maximize value to the patient.
